Man it was snowing like crazy last night up in Kenwood area…and then before Tiffany and I hit the Ohio River there was no snow to be seen! Come on!!! Where is winter? Where is the accumulating snow? And what is even more crappy is that the entire rest of the country gets hit with tons of snow and/or ice and we are here…sitting in the exact place of no precip, and just cold temps.. Man oh man…i really agree with Jason Clark on his blog post…

LOSAD (Lack of Season Affective Disorder)

please pray for Tiffany’s Aunt and uncle they are both stuck in their house without power and water…. i think Tiffany said since Friday…and her sister spent the night at the hospital where she works because of the ice there….so I am thankful….but I still want snow!!! please!!!

Well, I ran again today in the teen degree morning and loved it. I went a little further today than I have on average in the past to see if the challenge i put up here on the blog would increase, but low and behold…it did not change right after I updated my Nike+…hmmmm maybe it needs a few hours to update…

anyway so I was reading Margret’s blog who read Matt’s blog and found a site that checks to see how many other people live in the US and have your same name…. well, I went for it..and guess what…. Yep… i am one of a kind…here are the results:

HowManyOfMe.com
Logo There are:
0
people with my name
in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

Not too much of a surprise! There were 10,499 with the first name Duncan….but no Duncan Hollums…. way to go mom and Dad! You knew I was unique when you named me, heh. Well, I am off to read a little in my Exiles book…and I can’t wait to get deeper into this book. i plan on putting up soon a blog list of all the people i read their blogs on my RSS reader, but I want to sit down and really spend some time with the html and get it just right. So until then yall take care, God bless ya and have a wonderful week! KUTPs!

I ran this morning!!!!

Ξ January 16th, 2007 | → 5 Comments | ∇ FOOD, blog site changes, running, vblog |

Well, I must confess, I gained 10 lbs this holiday between the great food of one mother and one mother-in-law…..(and man it was almost worth it, heh….. so anyway it felt so good to get back on track at the track, heh. You really have no idea how much you miss it until you get to do it again. I noticed this was the first time I ran since Oct. 31st!!!! Holy cow that is a long time, but I guess that is what a torn hamstring, tendonitis, death of a loved one, Thanksgiving, and Christmas will do to ya, heh…. but my new year resolution is to loose 65 lbs by the middle of next year!

So with that goal in mind…I need all of you to hold me accountable!!! Desperately! So…. Nike and Apple listened to me and they created a widget for the blog that will show all of you my workout progress and the gaol I have set for myself. It is over there on the right side of the blog… you can see that I set my goal for Jan. to be 15 miles…. I run on average a mile a day 4-5 days a week, so I hope to reach this goal for the month…and I have said that if I do not reach my goal then I will not drink any soda at all in the month of Feb….. so here goes the fun!!!

OK, also I added my Video blog to the bottom of the blog, as well as, gave this blog some Bawls…. I knew it had some, but I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that it had two and notice they are sugar free too, heh…

Oh….and if anyone has a Nike+ iPod adapter (or got one for Christmas)…and would like to join in the challenges I have created or the ones I am in…please just email me and I will add you to be invited! Thanks!

Yall have a wonderful week, and keep an eye on that running progress for me…I need all the accountability I can get! Oh and if you ever eat with me make sure I do not eat any carbs….well, a low amount of this if possible…thanks! KUTPs!!!

This morning’s run, WISH list, Materialism, and Nanaw update……

Ξ November 1st, 2006 | → 0 Comments | ∇ family, general life stuff, pictures by me, running |

So here is the place I love to run @ in Ft. Thomas! I really do miss running here if, 1)I can not have enough discipline to wake up in time, 2)it is raining, or lastly 3) My body needs to recover for the previous morning’s run, heh…

There are a few more photos over @ my flickr page if you want to see a few more.

This is my view from the home stretch…but the Nike+ device most of the time is off, and so I get to run a little more…and that is fine I need too anyway.

This is the sign that I was was not up….I would go much more often if I knew that I could bring Halo…but oh well, I am sure that the soccer players appreciate not finding the gifts that halo would leave for them.

And lastly here is a bench that is beside the track…that I thought i would get a fun sot of the soccer scoreboard from. It turned out very nice… At least I liked it.
——————

Well, I took off the Frapper map thing on the right side of my blog. It was cool seeing where everyone is from, but it sure was taking a long time to load so it is gone now….

I added my wish list to the side though (just click the bottom that says: My wish list…it will send you to a del.icio.us set of book marks that includes my amazon wish list but also things that you can not get through Amazon…like the Salt Cellar from Alton Brown! woo hoo!)….now this wish list is not for you…unless you are family….I only put up a wish list because it saves my family and me the time it takes to ask what I would want and me getting caught up in the whole materialism thing. (i just do it once and it s done) and believe me I took the term WISH list literally! So don’t (even family) get too crazy in there!!!)

<--side note-->

Materialism has always been one of my weaknesses. It is hard when your birthday is in the end of November, and then Christmas rolls around right after that. It is almost like I have been trained all my life to get stuff around the end of the year….and even though I am MUCH better about this it still creeps up and scares me a little bit.

<--/side note-->

So I am getting very excited about the conference

that I will be attending this Thursday thru Sunday in Seattle! I just bought some magazines for the flights and a book of poetry…yep that is right a book of poetry. Now I have never been a person of poetry, but seeing all the poetry over @ J.D.’s blog and hearing Fred Craddock speak made me want to try it out (for the first time since 8th grade)… So I bought a book on tape and a small book for the plane and I hope to go from there. For some reason my artistic side has been coming out lately through the camera and now I am wanting to play around a little bit with words. So if I ever get anything on paper I might try to put some of it here. Anyway yall take care God bless ya and have a wonderful evening…and week if I don’t blog before I leave. I am sure I will try (if I am not too tired) to blog the conference so maybe yall can be looking for that, as well.

Oh and the last I heard (this afternoon) was that Nanaw was doing better, but it is still a up hill battle from here on…s as always….please KUTPs!!!! Thank yall!

Labels on posts from now on….

Ξ October 12th, 2006 | → 2 Comments | ∇ blog site changes, general life stuff, running |

Hey everyone, I hope your week is going as god as mine is! I ran this morning in the 33 degree weather and loved it…I got out to the track and ran 2 laps, until my body went into shock with the cold weather, and told me that I needed to use the bathroom, ha ha… So I drove home with my prairie dog and finished my run around the blocks near my home, ha ha…and good worship followed.

But anyway…I wanted to let yall know that over there on the right side of the blog you should see something called labels. These labels are little classifications of what the blog posts are about. I really do not want to go back through all my old posts and put in the labels…but I did decide that I really wanted to go through and mark all the ones that I mention Jay in or were about Jay(133 in total…wow that was a lot of prayer requests!)…and I just finished that task…so I welcome you to go over there and check out the labels.

I still need to go back and make sure that I get all my sermon posts labeled, and a few other stuff…just because it would be nice for anyone to read about Jay or desire to read a sermon of two to have that ability to do it…so yall have a wonderful day…I am off to calibrate a home theater for some friends/neighbors! God bless yall!

(Please check out The Sushi Guide, good stories, etc…)

The one about my identity theft on eBay, running with Nike and apple by my side, and I have been tagged……

Ξ August 10th, 2006 | → 10 Comments | ∇ Cultural Architect Stuff, FOOD, Tech, running, stuff found on the internets |

I think I am dreaming:

yep I am…man I am hungry and tired…so this picture is what I do most of the time, while I am on a diet and waking up early to run each morning! mmmmm sushi boat! (insert Homer Simpson hunger talk)

Hey everyone look I just posted another post within one week of each other! I have not done that in forever…well forever is a long time, but long enough for most of yall to not check the blog each day/week(/or even each month)…so as always I apologize for the long time between posts, but I will attempt to be better at it and I promise that somewhere down the line I will apologize again and again and again. Oh well such is life!

Well, live is going good now-a-days. I think every now and then I get into a funk about work/life/children/etc… and my mind tends to deal with everything all at one time and then I find myself sitting in the corner of a padded room with a padded coat and a door with a small window and a small slit in the door that food comes to me every so often……

Well it is not that bad…but I do try to take everything that I need to do in one week or one month and think that it all needs to be done that day! and then I get stressed out and then just shut down and become complacent for a few days (Tiffany would say “more like a few weeks” right here, ha ha) But I am out and I have emerged from the funk… (not depression…just stress, just in cause those of you who care so much about me are getting worried right here…and besides you (readers of the D.G. blog) of all people out there should know that I have a tendency to exaggerate things, ha ha ha)

I contribute many things to getting out of the funk… Finishing my sermon for last week and this week (I will put it up here soon once I polish it and get the right credit to where it is due from where I got my research from), playing around with my new iPod, and playing around with my new Nike+/Apple iPod accessory that gets me out of bed in the morning excited to go run!

That leads me to the Nike+/Apple cool thing I bought!!!!

Man this thing is soooo cool! Ok so if you own an iPod and you work out…then you really should just splurge and shell out $30 to get this product (and some of you would not even consider that a splurge!) What does it do you may ask? (insert annoying tv salesman voice here) Well, let me tell you, heh heh….

Basically the Nike + iPod is two small items….. One plugs directly into your iPod (it is very small and looks just like the other iPod products…crisp and clean design). The other thing is a small round device that is designed to be inserted into special Nike+ shoes. BUT…. I am not going to be suckered into buy new shoes…Especially since I went to a run walk shop and bought shoes that are supposed to be perfect for my feet and run/walk style…so I just did what this guy did and attached the round transmitter to the tongue of my shoe under my shoe laces.

And it works GREAT!

OK so why do I want you to buy one? Well,

#1… It is a great motivator to start/restart to work out! I mean seriously I never want to run or work out and I am loving it now.

#2….Not only can you keep progress of your workouts…but you can actually run with me! Yes that is right…if you get one and sign up then we can challenge one another (unlimited number that I can tell) and we have have races for distance, time, or number of runs all in a specific time…so… you can create a challenge to see who can run the most miles in 14 days (2 weeks)….or the fastest mile in one week…etc… the possibilities are limitless, and for those of you who can actually run a mile or 20 without stopping……(watch out I am coming up from behind, heh) then you can compare your stats with people all over the US and/or the United Kingdom!

This thing really is amazing and I would love some company to run with….even if you really would kick my butt!…So If you own an iPod, join this fat guy and lets go running….well more like a very slow jog and walk for me right now)!

I wonder if they have some way of showing my running progress on this blog? hmmm….

—————————

Ok what else is going on?

Well, I got tagged by Markus Watson over @ StreachyChurch Blog (<--- read more about the tag right there) who I prerached for yesterday (Sermon is coming soon to the blog)...so let me get that out of the way...and then tag someone else.... 1. One book that changed your life: (Other than The Bible I am guessing...) The New Testament and the People of God (Christian Origins and the Question of God) by N.T. Wright

2. One book that you ha’ve read more than once:
Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss

3. One book you would want on a desert island:
(again assuming something other than the Bible)
The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
Throw in The Hobbit (by J.R.R. Tolkien) and The Complete Far Side by Gary Larson and I would be expreamly happy…as long as I had something other than the paper in the books to use for fire and toilet paper)

4. One book that made you laugh:
Praise Habit: Finding God in Sunsets and Sushi by David A. Crowder

5. One book that made you cry:
Moments With The Savior by Ken Gire

6. One book you wish had been written:
a.k.a. “LOST”: Discovering Ways To Connect With People Jesus Misses Most by Jim Henderson

7. One book you wish had never been written:
I first was going to say The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church…but you know I really do love that book, and it is a part of me and I am a part of it…but sometimes…just like my body it is a love hate relationship, heh.
So….. I guess it would be The Book Of Mormon.

8. One book you’re currently reading:
Seizing Your Divine Moment: Dare to Live a Life of Adventure by Erwin Raphael McManus

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:
Taking Heaven by Storm: Methodism and the Rise of Popular Christianity in America by John H. Wigger
and
Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense by N.T. Wright

10. Tag 5 others:

Cory Britt @ coryonomics
J.D. Walt @ FARMstrong
Nate Howard @ My Blog (Mac Style)
Fitz @ Fitz’s Random Ramblings
and John Choi @ John Choi

And the tag has been finished… Usually I ignore tags…but it is hard when you want to look smart and show people that you actualy can read! Even though I would have prefered doing movies in the same mannor…oh well…. now what is next…..

AAAAHHHHH, Yes! Ebay identity thieft!

Well, I went to check my email and I noticed that in my email junk folder was a few ebay emails telling me that I had posted a few auctions. Well, I just ignored them because I thought they were spoofing emails , phishing emails , or just plain old SPAM. heh.

But, then I got a few in my inbox instead of my junk mail…and so I decided to log into my ebay account and seewhat is up…and yep, someone figured out my password, or secrete queston answer, and they started posting auctions under my name, etc…. it was crazy! I started freaking out and contact ebay and I got it all taken care of…. but it sure was crazy for 2-3 hours though. I immediatly closed the open auctions, and emailed te finished auctions and email the buyers to not pay anything that, because my idienty had been stole and the auctions online were fraud. Ebay suspeded my account so I could change my password and secret question and then opened it back up….I then went on to change my paypal password, email password, etc…. So… this is a prime example to show all of you that you really need to change your password every 4-6 months! Please do this…. I promise you wil save yourself a lot of heartache, stress, and freaking out!!

OK, I know this post was long and I will try to shorten the posts…but I had not been on in a long tme and I know that most people who do not have RSS readers have stopped coming here on a weekly basis…so I wanted to fit it all into one blog post instead of 30, heh….
