I am always looking for the big break of popular media to get a few things right. 1) Christanity (one that is not filled with ignorance and stupid representatives), and 2) a real Geek show that actually knows thier stuff, a show that will make geeks laugh, because the writters are geeks themselves and know what is funny to us.
Well, I have actually foudn the cure to the second option:
The Big Bang Theory…and to prove it to you I will give you all a few links to a few of the episodes best moments…enjoy!
Well, if you have a dog, and like ot chew sugarless gum, I suggest that you loose your taste for the gum, and go with gum that is filled with sugar!
Halo about two weeks ago, decided to put his nose into one of the purses of one of the youth that we were entertaining at our house. Now, this is not unusual in anyway, Halo is a Beagle and therefore his life and mind are ruled by one thing…his nose. And Halo is a smart enough dog that in the past he has been able to unzip purses to get inside and find all kinds of good “treats”. Well, this time he got into a purse with sugarless gum. And I had no idea that almost all sugarless gum has a chemical in it called, Xylitol. And this chemical, is deadly to dogs. For some reason this drug when ingested by dogs causes their blood sugar to slowly drop over the course of two days and then their liver shuts down killing them…. the sad thing is that over the course of the two days nothing is noticeable other than the dog might be a little more tired than usual, and then by the time their liver shuts down it is too late for medical care.
The drug is so dangerous, that one gram of the drug in the sugarless gum causes death, and usually each piece/stick has 2 grams of it! Well, when Tiffany found Halo with the entire package opened and they got to counting it was around 10 pieces that he had eaten.
And by the grace of God Tiffany remembered hearing somewhere that sugarless gum was bad for dogs, immediately yelled down stairs where I was playing Halo 3 with other youth telling of the fact, wel, I did not know that it was bad for dogs, so i just blew it off… well, my genius wife decides to check the internet and finds out all the info that I just gave above! And then she proceeds to take Halo to the emergency hospital in Wilder. (I was not too excited about this, because it is something like $75 just to walk in the door. But, they got halo in and immediatly induced vomiting and then put him on a glucose IV drip. and kept him on watch (suicide watch is what Tiffany and I called it) overnight… we then went to pick him, up expecting to take him home, and they tell us to take his straight to our vet for them to keep him, and they decide to keep him over night as well, and at one point that day they called Tiffany and told her they thought his liver was shutting down and they might need to call her back with bad news…. aaarrrggg.. i was in Lexington the whole day…anyway, long story shorter, Halo came home and even to this day continues to take a pill each day to make sure his liver is OK….but throughout it all it cost us $850. And I mean wow! Here is a dog that brings us so much joy everyday, but that is about to run into the money that we personally (not the help from parents or others) have saved up to pay for us to someday have a baby…and it was a very tough time for Tiffany, but decisions were made and we still have a wonderful loving Halo!
BUT, if you are a dog lover, PLEASE remove all sugarless gum from your house and let visitors know if they bring in purses, coats, etc…..
Here is a picture of our Christmas tree this year. The Halo helmet I stole form a story in Digg.com, but the gender of the tree was all me…thanks to the help of Tiffany’s favorite store Michael’s! When I saw those balls I knew exactly what I had in mind for them! oh yeah!
==================== Here is the final picture of the aftermath after a game of Munchkin (I think on Tiffany’s Birthday) I love this game, but I never win at it..and I did this time, so here is all my cards and the final 10 level on the dice! Oh man it was a great day!

And last but never least is the note that Tiffany was artificially inseminated Friday…so here we go on the second round of trying to make a Baby! I try to make it a fun time when we go, so this time instead of walking into the Dr.’s office with the plain brown paper bag containing my “deposit for the bank of Tiffany” I decided that I would spruce it up a little bit and give it a little Starbucks packaging. I can’t tell you how many people asked me if I brought them Starbucks.. i tried to tell them that they probably did not want what was in the bag, ha ha ha ha…. but come to find out the Dr. loves Starbucks and gave me a high five when he found out what we had done! I made everyone smile, and that is exactly what the Dr. ordered for that day since it is our second round…so here is the pea for you all to please pray for us, and that if this is what god desires for us to do/have…then please pray for us and the possible future baby! Thanks and God bless yall!!!! KUTPs!!!
Well for those who don;’t know, I love carving pumpkins. It is a form of art, plus it allows me to express my geek in pumpkin form…so I wanted to share with yall what I did this year:
on the left is the power button on the front of every Xbox 360… on the right in the logo for Halo 3 the most popular video game for the Xbox 360.
Now, I just need to find green glow sticks for the Xbox 360 power button, and possibly blue L.E.D.s for the Halo3 one, heh.
Yall have a great night…loving on Children…just like Christ would.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Well, yesterday during lunch time Scott and I went out for a photo shoot. Scott is an amazing photographer and since I love photography…I decided to go with him every month or so and we go around the area to take pictures of different places and things. Yesterday we went to the Cincy Krohn Conservatory ad saw all the great plants and flowers they had…one entire section was closed so they could change it around for the seasons…but I still had a ton of fun and Scott is great company! So here are a few of the pictures I took, if you want to see more than just go to my Flickr photos over there on the right side of my blog and you can view them all….
Here is the waterfall…I took this one without a tripod which is why the greenery around te water is a little blurry too, but the water came out great.
The orchid room was amazing…it was not very big…but man those flowers are great!
Here is looking up a tree….. I loved the texture on the bark of the tree and just had to get a shot of it…and of course I love looking at things differently, so I decided looking up would be fun.
Barrel Cactus…. very cool cactus and just loved the shape. Ironic the shape is pleasing but the spikes are not, heh.
Not sure the name of the succulent plant, but I just loved the Black and White version of this one. The black tips came out great and the design of it is great!

Well, Tiffany and I went to a meeting yesterday and when I went to check my pocket PC (PPC) the screen was fried and I could not see anything on it… so the piece of tech that held my contacts, calendar, (a few games), and tons of notes and tasks is now officially dead! So, I will be attempting to see if I can get by with just using my laptop for all those items…but it just will not be as convenient to get a telephone number, enter a date, etc… Maybe I can hold out for PPCs to get cheaper when the iPhone comes out, heh… anyway…it is dead…and I will get to change the way I work a little bit…but who knows this might be a blessing in disguise.
Oh here are a few pictures that I had laying around my Flickr that I meant to put up here, but just never have until now….
Here is a photo that my friend Scott shot of me for our church directory. They wanted a photo of us while at work, so we went to a local Starbucks and I thought this one was probably my favorite.
Here are a few more (this is mainly for my Mom….please do not think that I like to see my own photo…i hate it actually which is why I love photography…. most of te time you are not in yor own pictures, heh
Here is a Buffalo mounted at the Longhorn Steak house in the shopping center that the Friday night OG meets… I thought I would grab a shot of it.
Now this is a cool lamp I saw @ Lowe’s! Man it looks and moves like a robot (not on it’s own sadly), but what a cool lamp to have on a geek’s desk!
lastly, here is Jedi Halo! Halo loves to get the covers under his nose and lift them over and over again until he is under them and comfortable…I took this shot when he decided to emerge from them in the morning. ——————————————-
Well, yall have a wonderful weekend, God bless ya, and take care! KUTPs!!!
i took this video of halo popping a balloon from my birthday (sorry Alicia)…and man it cracked me up….he had so much for for the VERY short time that he had it….and before i took it away from him, heh…. but anyway here it is…and you can tell he loved it….
oh and the shift key is not working right now on my computer and that is the reason the only time you see capital letter is when i turn on the caps lock and then off again…and it is killing me so i will just go one for now…
——————- speaking of halo…we had his teeth cleaned and while he was under they took off his dewclaws i guess that is what they are called….well everything went fine until we got home and he ripped out the bandages…and then this morning i looked down and his right foot was swollen to 4 times its normal size and noticed that they put the bandage on his foot too tight…and then when we called the vet they said to just take off the bandage and continue to keep giving him his antibiotics and pain medicine…and guess what they never gave us pain medicine….so poor halo went without pin meds and a swollen foot all night last night…and that was after we went back to the vet three times to get a collar that would still fit him and be long enough for him to not reach back and rip out his own stitches…anyway he is doing much better now…even though he has that plastic collar around his neck that he hates…but the bandages are off, the swelling is gone, and he seems to be a much better puppy dog now…but he has to wear that collar for 7-14 days and then we take him back t get the stitches out…and still not sure how that is going to go with us leaving next Monday to go home for Christmas…anyway… he is much better and i must now go to bed for church tomorrow….. kutps….God bless yall…
here is a picture of halo looking at me through the book case before the bandages came off almost asking me to please let him rip them off….please daddy please….. —————-
oh and on our way out the door to go to the Friday night OG Tiffany’s new purse broke and so she had to give what was supposed to be a surprise Christmas gift early…i got her with my parents a seatbelt bag purse…and very cool…and yes momma and daddy he loved it…sorry that she broke her other one and i had to give it to her early….and then i turned on my tv and it looks like the blue cannon that makes the picture look so amazing ly clear and hd…is really messed up and i have no idea how it got to be that way…..aaarrrggggg….and there is no way that we have enough money to replace the t.v. so between my dog and t.v. and wife’s purse all breaking in one evening life is still going well, and we had a great time tonight going to the nursing home with the Friday night og and then everyone came over and had Texas chili and played the wii…well the guys played the wii while the women went out to shop, heh…. and then we now have 3 wonderful people staying at our house from their ski trip…and i am very tired…..so it is off to bed and work tomorrow…..so yall have a great week and i hope to post something before Christmas…oh and did i mention that my laptop latch is broke so it will not open properly…it works ok but is not where it should be…so i will have to take that in to get fixed and they have to ship it out and then ship my laptop to my parents house for me to be able to use while i am there….oh well merry Christmas everyone and God bless ya….kutps
Sorry for the long time since a post…but let me share a little of what has been going on since I last posted…. Here is Halo’s favorite way to sit in the front chair….heh….. The 4th of July was great! We had the 1st OG over for food and to set off a few fire works….here are the pyros that night…and I will try to post another post telling you of my illegal purchase!!! (insert dramatic music here)….. Here is the first car that Tiffany and I bought after we were married loaded up on a truck and being forever hauled away….we will miss it!…… Our good friends Philip and Holly (and their little one) visited us on the way back from a wedding! Tiffany was very happy and even though they did not get to stay as long as we would have liked…it was wonderful to get to see them!…… And of course my parents are here and every time they come over to the house they usually bring their dogs…and Teddy (the one in this picture with Halo) LOVES to play with Halo…I took this picture and man Halo looks CRAZY! heh….but in reality he is very sweet to Teddy……anyway…. I is well, and We got our used (new to us) car….and I will be having them install a CD player in it this Wednesday! I also got an iPod yesterday..and I am playing around with that too….So….please pay that I start to work our regularly…because I need to loose weight..and the Dr. thinks so too…heh heh… (hence the purchase of the iPod to work out with…since my previous workout partner got a job that will not allow him to workout in the mornings…anyway….yall have a wonderful week take care and God bless you!
Jay is still at home but still can’t talk. His voice doesn’t seem to want to clear up. His fever is gone but he is still on the IV antibiotics at home. He is also taking his Lovenox injections nightly anytime his platelet-count it above 50,000. He has been stabilized in the 60,000’s for the past week without transfusions. He is extremely tired and weak. We took him to the Doctor today and he said the steroids are making him weak. I have to take him to the eye Doctor tomorrow to find out if they can figure out why he still has double vision.
Oh, what a morning… This morning I got up to take him to the Doctor. We had to leave by 7:30 to get there and I had to pack all of his stuff in the car in case they kept him at the hospital. Once I got everything packed I found out my car battery was dead. I went to get Jay’s car and I couldn’t find his keys. I searched for over an hour and finally found the keys in the place I put them so that I wouldn’t loose them. When I got out to the car which hasn’t been driven since Dec and is more than 10 years old, I prayed that it would start. It started but then I found that it had 2 inches of ice all over the car. So instead of scraping all of the ice and snow which was not going so well, I decided to jump my other car but once I got it positioned I realized the hood was frozen shut and I couldn’t get it open. Through all of this, I had to take Jay back in the house to wait because it was too cold for him to be in the car. I then moved all of the luggage from my car to his car and loaded him in. I forgot the little fact of not have 4 wheel drive in Jay’s Buick to get of the driveway I haven’t shoveled in 2 months. It was an adventure that Brian Boitano would have been proud of but in a buick it was interesting to say the least. Somewhere in the middle of all of this, I did manage to call the Doctor’s office and tell them we were going to be late.
We arrived at 10:45 for a 9:00 appointment and (God has a way on making things workout in the end) we found his Doctor had just arrived. He was late too. So actually we were just on time. It took us a while to finish up and then I picked up Mexican food (he finally got his guacomole) and doughnuts for Jay (Those steroids have REALLY helped his appetite, I know I’ve got a few pounds that are steroid induced).
When we got home I hung his antibiotic and did some phone calls to clear up medical appointments and orders.
Tonight, I’m doing work and he’s watching James Bond and CSI between naps. It’s nice to see him rest.
Update on me… My mom is coming to stay with him on Wednesday so that I can go to work. I’m trying to do one day a week in the office as long as he’s not in the hospital. I have my first infusion on Feb 9th of that new MS drug and I was lucky my insurance covered on the first request. I’m officially released from my 1 and ΒΌ weekly needle and loosing one weekend day to sickness. That made me VERY happy.
Take care everyone,
Sheila ———–
I talked to Jay and Sheila today and it was a good talk! Jay was doing good..or as he put it “Same old same old”….and then we had a good talk about snow, my dog, and praying for each other…good times!
================================
Well it has been a few weeks since we got a new SB email and I thought I would make sure you all knew there was a new one:
Well today was a very full day for me…..I first took my dog Halo to get put under and they checked and cleaned out his left ear….apparently it was clogged completely with ear wax from a certain point al the way to his ear drum! They cleaned it all up and found nothing, but we have changed his dog food from something bought at the store to Fish and Potatoes food! (the Vet thinks the yeast ear wax is probably cause by a food allerrgy (sp?) and most of the time it is the protein in the food that he might be allergic too…so instead of chicken/pork/beef (commonly found protien in most store bought dog foods) Halo is now chomping on fish and chips…. he seems to like it great….and then always proceeds to lick me all over my forehead and you can just imagine fish and chips dog breath on your forehead! yeah….not the most pleasant thing on earth!….but hey who cares when a creature loves you this much, heh.
Halo is still not good-ol-Halo yet still coming out of the drugging of him…he sleeps a lot and one thing kind of disturbing is that he is sleeping with one of his eyes open now….. We are hoping that it is because of the Vet visit today….but I guess I might sleep with one eye open too if I thought that people might put me under again, heh heh…(Jay I bet you have never felt like that before? ha ha ha)
After the dog, Tiffany and I went for her to get a blood test to find out we are not pregnant (this is getting annoying…but we are find and hanging in there, please KUTPs!)
Then it was off to meet with my weekly pastor accountability group and we discussed my sermon on Sunday (The Problem of Evil…be looking for it right here same D-time same D-channel (instead of bat it is D short for D.G. <----the proceeding note is for those invidiculas who do not understand my humor and need explination which then takes away any hint of humor in the end...thanks to all of you out there, heh) it is going to be a doosy...especially since we are having communion that day too.....kind of wired since the communion sermons have less time because of communion.....and I am supposed to tackle the problem of Evil....you know that tiny subject that no one really cares about (insert VERY sarcastic voice here) heh...but it should be good and I am being challenged in writing it.....(as always and so I know it will have a piece of me in it somewhere) (Soul preaching Dr. Kalas....Soul Preaching) Then I left to go take care of my wife who was in bed sick......and fed her lunch and right after that the Vet called to say Halo was ready for pickup (it is 2:00 pm now) and after getting Halo and listening to a VERY detailed description of what was done to Halo..I took him back home only to remember that Halo had to be watched for 1-2 hrs after the drugs to make sure he was not vomiting) I thought to myself well this will be Ok and I can finally get to work, because Tiffany is home sick and she can watch/sleep beside him......well great news from Tiffany when I got back she got a Dr. appt. for 4:00 pm so I was left staying home watching a dog and working on a sermon from home.....(I bet people at work think I am never there...oh well I serve God 1st and foremost and I know if I am slacking and I know that today I was serving God the entire day, heh....Well Tiffany got back...(she is fine by-the-way probably a flu that they could do nothing for)...but Tiffany is still very tired and not feeling 100%) Then I helped Tiffany cook or dinner (it was so great Tiffany thank you thank you thank you!!!!) and we enjoyed EveryBody Loves Raymond (you better watching as much as you can of this one they are on thier last season!!!), Two and a Half Men (great theme song), and Medium (really good one tonight)…all in HD I might add, heh)
And now I find myself here typing on a computer for too long while I should be in bed with my wife….and that sounds so good to me right now that I am going to go right now……
……………………..well, let me finish the blog post and then go…………:) ==========================
Well here is a cool Bluetooth vitrtual keyboard if I ever seen one before (insert country hick accent here)
